Erik Johann Van Wyk is a director whose work is defined by a distinctive blend of technical precision and storytelling. Erik crafts films that are intelligent and entertaining with authentic performances and an instinct for the relationship between frames and music. He has directed and designed award-winning commercials in all shapes and sizes through companies like Anonymous Content Los Angeles, Independent London, EJVW Studio Europe, Velocity Films Johannesburg and Lovers & Fighters Cape Town. Before it all, he studied art, robotics engineering, economics, photography and screenwriting, and drummed for art school bands. He started his career as an award-winning creative at legendary ad agency Hunt Lascaris in Johannesburg. Erik grew up in a family that lived in many cities, including London, New York, Boston, Minneapolis, Portland, Singapore, Tokyo, Barcelona, Palma, Oslo, Zurich, Amsterdam, Cape Town and Johannesburg. He currently lives between London and Cape Town with his young family.
