Erik Johann Van Wyk is a South African director whose work is defined by a distinctive blend of technical precision and storytelling. He has directed and designed award-winning commercials in all shapes and sizes through companies like Anonymous Content Los Angeles, Independent London, EJVW Studio Europe, Velocity Films Johannesburg and Lovers & Fighters Cape Town. Known for elegant design, Erik crafts films that are intelligent and entertaining with a sense of magical realism. He started his career as an award-winning creative at legendary ad agency Hunt Lascaris in Johannesburg. Before it all, he studied art, robotics engineering, economics, photography and screenwriting, and drummed for art school bands. Erik grew up in a family that lived in many cities, including London, New York, Boston, Minneapolis, Portland, Singapore, Tokyo, Barcelona, Palma, Oslo, Zurich, Amsterdam, Cape Town and Johannesburg. He currently lives between London and Cape Town with his young family.
